The first hexacarboxylato diruthenium(III) complex. Synthesis, X-ray crystal structure, and properties of tetra-µ-acetato-diacetatodiruthenium(III) monohydrate

Abstract

The reaction of [Ru2(µ-OAc)4Cl] with AgOAc in AcOH/MeOH gives the red oxidation product [Ru2(µ-OAc)4(OAc)2]·H2O (1), the structure of which has been determined by X-ray crystallography; this is the first example of a paramagnetic Ru26+ complex.
