Deep eutectic solvent systems for FeCl3-catalyzed oxidative polymerization of 3-octylthiophene

Abstract

FeCl3-catalyzed oxidative polymerization of 3-octylthiophene was achieved using deep eutectic solvents (DESs) for the first time. The main goal of this work is to develop the synthesis of poly(3-octylthiophene) in DESs which generate fast polymerization, resulting in high yield, compared to that in ionic liquids or conventional organic solvents.
