Nickel(II) complexes bound to an [Fe4S4] cluster via bridging thiolates:synthesis and crystal structure of model compounds for the active site of nickel CO dehydrogenase

Abstract

[NiL][L =SCH2CH2N(Et) CH2 CH2 CH2N(Et) CH2 CH2S] 1 reacts with [Fe4S4I4]2– to afford [(NiL)2Fe4S4I2] 3; in 3 the two fragments of 1 are doubly bridged viaµ-sulfur of L to iron atoms of the [Fe4S4] core.
