Synthesis and characterization of new vanadates of antimony, ASbV2O8 (A = K, Rb, Tl or Cs)

Abstract

Four new vanadates of antimony, KSbV2O8 1, RbSbV2O8 2, TlSbV2O8 3 and CsSbV2O8 4, have been prepared by solid state synthesis and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1 to 3 have a three-dimensional (SbV2O8) anionic framework with one dimensional channels occupied by counter cations. Compound 4 has two dimensional (SbV2O8) layers interleaved with Cs+ ions. Both types of anionic frameworks are built from corner connected SbO6 octahedra and VO4 tetrahedra. The spectroscopic data are briefly discussed.
