Synthesis of Bridged Oligophenylenes from Fluorene. Part 2.1 Quinquiphenyls to Deciphenyls
Abstract
Organometallic derivatives of aryl bromides 2a–10a have been coupled with aryl dihalides 11–16 in the presence of PdCl2(dppb) catalyst to produce symmetrical bridged oligophenylenes 17–31 and 33 that contain five to ten conjugated benzene rings with one to four dialkylmethylene bridges; these products show useful solubility, high quantum efficiency of fluorescence and good photochemical stability.
