Reaction mechanisms

Part (ii) Pericyclic reactions

Abstract

This report surveys the 2006 literature on mechanisms of pericyclic reactions. Of particular note are reports on a biological example of a vinylcyclobutane-cyclohexene rearrangement, on a variety of concerted but asynchronous cationic pericyclic reactions, including several that may occur in biological cyclizations of farnesyl cation, on the role of dynamic effects in the cycloaddition of ketenes with cyclopentadienes, on the effects of halogen substituents on Diels-Alder reactions of furans, on a new interpretation of the available experimental data for the ring-opening of cis,cis-cycloocta-1,3-diene, and on the intricacies of several [1,n] sigmatropic shifts.
