Ferrocenes with two carbohydrate appendages at the upper and lower rings are useful for investigating carbohydrate–carbohydrate interactions

Abstract

The conformation of ferrocene with two βLac appendages is changed on addition of Ca2+ and Na+, which can be ascribed to intramolecular βLac–βLac interactions mediated by these cations and the resultant stabilization of twisted rotamers along the Cp–Fe–Cp axis.
