Oxygen-independent photonuclease activity of a new iron(ii) complex

Abstract

A new iron(II) complex was synthesized and its photonuclease activity against plasmid DNA was evaluated. After kinetic experiments a kcat of 18.86 ± 2.9 h−1 was obtained, one of the highest nuclease activities of synthetic metallonucleases, selectively activated by 365 nm UV light.
