An inorganic–organic composite framework with an unprecedented 3D heterometallic inorganic connectivity and white-light emission

Abstract

The first example of an inorganic–organic composite framework with a 3D inorganic Cd–O–M (M = Cd, Rb) connectivity, featuring a unique {Cd7Rb}n helix and nanoscale {Cd16Rb4} and {Cd18Rb2} rings, has been constructed and structurally characterized. This compound exhibits white-light emission and a wavelength-dependent photochromic response.
