A new synthetic approach to force bond formation between a transition metal complex and a thiostannate anion: solvothermal synthesis and crystal structure of [Co2(cyclam)2Sn2S6]·2H2O

Abstract

Applying a new synthetic approach using [Co(cyclam)Cl2]Cl as educt afforded crystallization of the layered compound [Co2(cyclam)2Sn2S6]·2H2O by replacement of the axial Cl ions in the complex by Co–S bonds to the in situ generated [Sn2S6]4− anion.
