Preparation and properties of oxotetrachlorovanadates(V)

Abstract

Two methods of preparation, one starting from vanadium(V) oxide trichloride and the other from vanadium(V) oxide, have been used to prepare salts containing the VOCl4 anion. Some chemical and physical properties of these salts are described and their electronic spectra reported.
