Synthesis of platinum metal macrocyclic complexes incorporating a pyridine-2,6-diyl moiety. The single crystal X-ray structure of cis-[RuIICl(CO)(L)](BPh4){L = 2,7,12-trimethyl-3,7,11,17-tetra-azabicyclo[11.3.1]heptadeca-1,(17),13,15-triene}

Abstract

The single crystal X-ray structure of [RuIICl(CO)(L)](BPh4){L = 2,7,12-trimethyl-3,7,11,17-tetra-aza-bicyclo[11.3.1]heptadeca-1,(17),13,15-triene} shows octahedral RuII co-ordinated to the pyridine-2,6-diyl macrocycle and to mutually cis chloro and carbonyl ligands; the syntheses of the related complexes trans-[MCl2(L)]+(M = RhIII or IrIII) and [M(L)]2+(M = PdII or PtII) are reported.
