Orientation of Mn12 molecular nanomagnets in self-assembled monolayers

Abstract

The oriented grafting of the Mn12-carboxylate molecular nanomagnets has been achieved on semi-conducting flat Si(100) functionalized surfaces due to the bonding selectivity between axial and equatorial carboxylate groups present in the coordination sphere of the Mn12 complexes.
