Synthesis of a doubly-bridged oxygen-carrier which shows reduced affinity for carbon monoxide

Abstract

The synthesis is described of an FeII porphyrin carrying an anthracene bridge across one face and a pyridine bridge across the other; this molecule minics the structural features and properties of natural oxygen-carrying systems.
