Transformation of the bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl into a β-diketinimato ligand; the X-ray structure of [Li(L′L′)]2, SnCl(Me)2(L′L′) and SnCl(Me)2(LL), [L′L′= N(R)C(Ph)C(H)C(Ph)NR, LL = N(H)C(Ph)C(H)C(Ph)NH, R = SiMe3)

Abstract

The reaction of MCHR2with ArCN yielded [[graphic omitted]′)]2[R = SiMe3; M = Li and L′L′= N(R)C(Ar)C(H)C(Ar)NR (Ar = Ph 1a or C6H4Me-4 1b) or M = K and Ar = Ph 1c]; 1a or 1c was converted into CH2(L′L′-C,C′)22a, L′L′H 2c and S[graphic omitted]′)3a by treatment with CH2Br2, (CH2Br)2 or H2O, and SnCl2Me2 or SnClMe3, respectively; and 3a upon hydrolysis gave S[graphic omitted])3b[LL = N(H)C(Ph)C(H)C(Ph)NH], X-ray data being provided for 1a, 3a and 3b.
