Preparation of a monomeric aluminium–diazabutadiene complex via an oxidative addition reaction

Abstract

Oxidative addition of MesN[double bond, length half m-dash]CH–CH[double bond, length half m-dash]NMes (Mes = mesityl) to the aluminium(I) tetramer, [Al(C5Me5)]4, results in the monomeric aluminium(III) derivative, [(η5-C5Me5)[upper bond 1 start]AlN(Mes)CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CHN[upper bond 1 end](Mes)], which has been characterised by X-ray crystallography.
