Solid-state 17O NMR of thymine: a potential new probe to nucleic acid base pairing

Abstract

We report the first experimental solid-state 17O NMR and theoretical (B3LYP/6-311++G**) study of the 17O electric-field-gradient and chemical shielding tensors in a free nucleic acid base, thymine.
