Synthesis, characterisation and reactivity of the first diphosphaalkyne

Abstract

The first diphosphaalkyne, P[triple bond, length as m-dash]CC(C6H4)3CC[triple bond, length as m-dash]P, has been synthesised and structurally characterised; its reaction with [Pt(C2H4)(PPh3)2] affords the complex, [{(PPh3)2Pt}2{μ-η22-P[triple bond, length as m-dash]CC(C6H4)3CC[triple bond, length as m-dash]P}], whilst its treatment with [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)3] yields the bis-ruthenium phosphaalkenyl complex, [{(PPh3)2(CO)ClRu}2{μ-P[double bond, length as m-dash]C(H)C(C6H4)3CC(H)[double bond, length as m-dash]P}].
