A high-voltage dye-sensitized photocapacitor of a three-electrode system

Abstract

A high-voltage photo-rechargeable capacitor (photocapacitor) of three-electrode configuration, comprising a dye-sensitized mesoporous TiO2 electrode, two carbon-coated electrodes, and two liquid electrolytes, attained a charge-state voltage of 0.8 V and high energy density per area of 47 µW h cm−2 which is five times larger than the previous two-electrode photocapacitor.
