“Turn-on” fluorescent sensor for the selective detection of zinc ion by a sterically-encumbered bipyridyl-based receptor

Abstract

A sterically-encumbered 5,5′-distyryl-2,2′-bipyridyl derivative that enforces a 1 : 1 metal-to-ligand ratio acts as a selective turn-on sensor for Zn2+ in THF.
