Abstraction of β-hydrogenvs.alkyl groups in reactions of dialkylzinc compounds and bis(oxazolinyl)borane

Abstract

An ambiphilic bis(oxazolinyl)borane proligand and zinc dialkyls react viaalkyl group transfer or β-hydrogen abstraction. The latter process is favored by formation of a bis(oxazolinyl)borane-zinc adduct that positions a β-hydrogen in the proximity of the Lewis acid center.
