Preparation of ferrocene immobilized metal–organic-framework modified electrode for the determination of acetaminophen

Abstract

A ferrocene-immobilized MOF-modified graphite electrode was prepared easily by a one-step procedure. The resulting electrodes showed very good and stable electrochemical behaviour in supporting electrolyte solutions. Acetaminophen could be oxidized electrocatalytically on the modified electrode. The peak current showed good linearity with concentrations in the range of 1.0 × 10−8 to 2.0 × 10−5 mol L−1 and a detection limit of 6.4 × 10−9 mol L−1 (3σ). The electrode could be applied for the determination of acetaminophen in pharmaceutical and serum samples with satisfactory results.
