P–P Menschutkin preparation of prototypical phosphinophosphonium salts

Abstract

Reactions of Me3P with alkyl- or arylchlorophosphines yield phosphinophosphonium salts in quantitative yields, demonstrating a Menschutkin P–P methodology that has potentially broad application for element–element bond formation.
