Lewis acid-catalyzed oxidation of benzylamines to benzamides

Abstract

A novel Lewis acid-catalyzed oxidation of benzylamines to the corresponding amides has been developed. Using 10 mol% of ZnBr2 or FeCl3 as the catalyst and TBHP as the oxidant, amides were produced under mild conditions.
