Creating suprapolymer assemblies: nanowires, nanorings, and nanospheres prepared from symmetric block-copolymers confined in spherical particles

Abstract

We show here a simple and versatile preparation method of “suprapolymer assemblies” including nanowires, nanorings, and nanospheres based on the phase-separated structures formed in symmetric poly(styrene-block-isoprene) (PS-b-PI) and homo-polystyrene (h-PS) blended particles. The morphological control of phase-separated structures has been performed in the blended particles by changing amounts and molecular weights of blended homopolymers. Varieties of suprapolymer assemblies were prepared from these blended particles by a simple crosslinking and elusion procedure.
