Conversion of alcohols into amides using chlorodiphenylmethylium hexachloroantimonate in nitrile solvents

Abstract

Treatment of alcohols with chlorodiphenylmethylium hexachloroantimonate (I) in nitrile solvents provides a mechanistically intersting method of converting an alcohol into amides under thermodynamic control.
