Pentalene complexes from cyclo-octatrienes: crystal structure of η-(1,5-bistrimethylsilyl)pentalene-1,1,2,2,3,3,3,3-octacarbonyl-triangulo-triruthenium, {Ru3(CO)8[C8H4(SiMe3)2]}

Abstract

The trimethylsilyl-substituted cyclo-octa-1,3,6-trienes C8H8(SiMe3)2 and C8H7(SiMe3)3 react with Ru3(O)12 to give the pentalene complexes Ru3(CO)8[C8H4(SiMe3)2] and Ru3(CO)8[C8H3(SiMe3)3], respectively; the molecular structure of the former has been established by an X-ray diffraction study.
