Synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of the ring-functionalised bis-η-cyclopentadienylmolybdenum compound [Mo(η-C5H4CH2CH2I)2I2] and of [Mo(η-C5H4CH2CH2)2]

Abstract

Cocondensation of molybdenum atoms with spiro[4.4]nona-1.3-diene or spiro[2.4]hepta-4, 6-diene gives the compounds [[graphic omitted]H2)2] and [[graphic omitted]H2)2] respectively and the latter reacts with iodine giving [Mo(η-C5H4CH2CH2I)2I2]; the structures of [[graphic omitted]H2CH2)2] and [Mo(η-C5H4CH2CH2I)2I2] have been determined by X-Ray crystallography.
