A cobalt complex containing the new trihapto-cyclic diphosphorus-sulphur ligand: synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of [{MeC(CH2PPh2)3}CoP2S]BF4·C6H6

Abstract

The reaction of Co(BF4)2·6H2O with tetraphosphorus trisulphide in the presense of triphose [triphose = 1,1,1-tris (diphenylphosphinomethyl)ethane] yields [(triphose)CoP2 S]BF4, which has been shown by a single-crystal X-ray study to contain the triangular diphosphorus–sulphur unit linked to the metal as a trihapto-ligands.
