Preparation and crystal structure of the argentate complex [Li(tetrahydrofuran)4][Ag{C(SiMe3)3}2]

Abstract

The product of the reaction between AgI and tris(trimethylsilyl)methyl-lithium in tetrahydrofuran (thf) has been shown by X-ray diffraction to be the ionic ate complex [Li(thf)4][Ag{C(SiMe3)3}2]; evidence is presented that this and the analogous ate complexes of lithium and copper retain their structures in solution.
