The structure of spirosupinanonediol, a triterpenoid bearing a novel skeletal system from Euphorbia supina

Abstract

The structure of spirosupinanonediol, a new triterpenoid isolated from Euphorbia supina Rafin., has been established by spectral and X-ray analysis as 7(8→9)abeo-9S-D : C-friedo-B′ : A′-neogammaceran-8-one-3S,7S-diol, with a novel skeletal system for which the name spirosupinane is proposed.
