Hydrothermal isomorphous insertion of aluminium into the framework of zeolite Y: a convenient method of modifying the siting of Al and Si in faujastic catalysts

Abstract

29 Si Magic-angle-spinning n.m.r. and i.r. spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffractometry establish that the amount of framework aluminium increases dramatically (by nearly 48%) upon treatment of ultrastable zeolite Y with an aqueous solution of KOH; this affords a ready method of redistributing Si and Al in the framework sites of zeolitic catalysts.
