The novel cerium(IV)-catalysed molecular oxygen oxidation of thioethers to sulphoxides

Abstract

Thioethers can be oxidized with catalytic amounts of CeIV salts rapidly and selectively to sulphoxides using molecular oxygen (Po2= 5–15 bar) as the oxidant.
