A tetrameric copper(I) phosphide and its conversion into a bis(phosphido)cuprate and a bis(phosphine)-complexed tetrameric copper(I) thiolate

Abstract

The reaction of ButPSiMe3 with CuCl affords the tetrameric copper(I) phosphide, (CuPBut2)4, which in turn produces [Li(thf)2][Cu(PBut2)2](thf = tetrahydrofuran) and (But2PH)2(CuSBut)4 on reaction with Li[PBut2] and Li[SBut], respectively.
