Monomeric four-coordinate vanadium(V) oxo complexes containing a labile ligand: synthesis and X-ray structural characterization of [(C23H30O2)V(O)Cl]

Abstract

The reaction of VOCl3 with bulky biphenolic compounds (H2L) provides dark brown complexes of formula, [V(O)(L)Cl]; X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the complex for which L = 2,2′-CH2(4-Me,6-ButC6H2O)2 is monomeric in the solid state with approximate tetrahedral geometry about the V atom.
