A new geometry for tetramanganese: fused open cubanes

Abstract

A series of complex ions containing the [Mn4O2(L)2]2+ ion have been synthesised and structurally characterised; the Mn4O6 cores consist of two incomplete, face-sharing cubanes, EPR spectra are consistent with the MnIII description and complex electrochemistry is observed.
