Synthesis and crystal and molecular structure of (Et4N)2[Mn10O2Cl8{(OCH2)3CMe}6]·4MeOH·2H2O, a MnII,III mixed-valence cluster with the decametallate core geometry

Abstract

The reaction of (Et4N)2MnCl4 with MeC(CH2OH)3 in acetonitrile in the presence of atmospheric oxygen yields the oxoalkoxomanganese cluster (Et4N)2[Mn10O2Cl8{(OCH2)3CMe}6]·4MeOH·2H2O, a MnII,III mixed valence species exhibiting the decametallate core geometry, {M10O2L26}.
