Novel allenylidene alkynyl and ammonia alkynyl metal complexes via selective synthesis of mono and bis alkynyl ruthenium(II) complexes; crystal structure of trans-[Ru(NH3)(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2]PF6

Abstract

The activation of terminal alkynes with cis-[RuCl2(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2] leads either to mono alkynyl, via vinylidene complex, or to bis alkynyl ruthenium complexes that are the key precursors of trans-[Ru(NH3)(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)-(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2]PF6 and [(Ph2C[double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]RuC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2]PF6 derivatives.
