Photolytic cleavage of DNA by [Au3(dmmp)2]3+

Abstract

Efficient visible-light induced cleavage of plasmid pBR322 DNA by the long-lived triplet excited state of the polynuclear d10[Au3(dmmp)2]3+ complex has been found to involve the cleavage of the supercoiled form I to the nicked form II, which ma be cleaved further to the linerized form III under carefully controlled conditions.
