Transition-metal mediated functionalisation of a phosphaalkyne: crystal structure of [Re{[double bond, length half m-dash]C(But)P(H)OBF3}Br(PPh3)(η-C5H5)]

Abstract

Treatment of the η2(3e)-vinyl complex [[graphic omitted]H(Ph)}Br(PPh3)(η-C5H5)] with HBF4·Et2O and the phosphaalkyne ButC[triple bond, length half m-dash]P affords the crystallographically characterised complex [[graphic omitted](H)OBF3}Br(PPh3)(η-C5H5)]1 formed via a novel reaction involving transfer of oxygen from a metal centre to a coordinated phosphaalkyne.
