Anisotropy barrier enhancement vialigand substitution in tetranuclear {CoIII2LnIII2} single molecule magnets

Abstract

The replacement of coordinated acetylacetonate for nitrate around a DyIII ion results in the enhancement of the single molecule magnet properties of a {CoIII2DyIII2} complex, resulting in a large thermal energy barrier and reduced quantum tunnelling at low temperatures. The analogous TbIII complex displays field induced SMM behaviour.
