A singly bonded amido-distannyne: H2 activation and isocyanide coordination

Abstract

The first amido-distannyne, LSnSnL (L = –N(Ar)(SiPri3), Ar = C6H2{C(H)Ph2}2Pri-2,6,4), has been prepared and shown to possess a very long Sn–Sn single bond; the compound activates dihydrogen under ambient conditions to give LSn(μ-H)2SnL, and reacts with ButNC to give a stable adduct complex, L(ButNC)SnSn(CNBut)L.
