Ionothermal synthesis and characterization of two cluster chalcohalides: [Cr7S8Cl2(NH3)14.5(H2O)1.5]Cl3·H2O and [Emim]2[Sn2As2S4(S2)2Br2.43Cl1.56]

Abstract

Two cluster chalcohalide compounds, namely [Cr7S8Cl2(NH3)14.5(H2O)1.5]Cl3·H2O (1) and [Emim]2[Sn2As2S4(S2)2Br2.43Cl1.56] (Emim = 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium) (2), have been ionothermally synthesized and characterized. The structure of 1 features a corner-shared double-cubane-like cationic cluster, whereas that of 2 features a face-shared incomplete double-cubane-like anionic cluster representing the first Sn/As chalcohalide compound with an organic cation. Thermal stabilities, optical and magnetic properties have also been studied.
