Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as precursors towards TiOx/C composites for photodegradation of organic dye

Abstract

A series of TiOx/C composites were prepared by pyrolyzing a Ti-containing MOF MIL-125, which exhibited excellent catalytic activities towards the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution. The best photocatalytic performance was achieved in MIL-125 pyrolyzed at 1000 °C due to its high surface area, reduced Ti3O5 composition, and conductive carbon matrix. This work represents a novel approach towards TiOx/C composites as photocatalysts.
