Hexanuclear tin(ii) and mixed valence tin(ii,iv) oxide clusters within polyoxometalates

Abstract

A hexanuclear mixed valence tin oxide cluster [Sn32+Sn34+O15]12− was successfully synthesized by the solution-state selective oxidation of a tin oxide cluster [Sn62+O12]12− within trivacant lacunary polyoxometalates, where lone pairs on the Sn2+ species acted as stereochemically active sites.
