New sandwich-type lanthanide complexes based on closed-macrocyclic Schiff base and phthalocyanine molecules

Abstract

Two new sandwich-type lanthanide complexes with the general formula [(Pc)2Ln3(L)(OAc)(OCH3)2] (Ln3+ = Dy3+ (1) and Er3+ (2)) were successfully synthesized and structurally characterized based on closed-macrocyclic Schiff base and phthalocyanine molecules. The magnetic properties and structure–property relationship in this multi-decker system were investigated. Interestingly, the corresponding dysprosium complex 1 shows typical single-molecule magnetic behavior with ferromagnetic dipole–dipole interactions and the slow relaxation of magnetization.
