Detection of phosphatidylserine in the plasma membrane of single apoptotic cells using electrochemiluminescence

Abstract

Phosphatidylserine (PS) in the plasma membrane of single apoptotic cells was detected using luminol electrochemiluminescence for the first time. Membrane PS was converted by aqueous phospholipase D and L-amino acid oxidase to generate hydrogen peroxide, inducing electrochemically generated luminescence. The successful observation of PS in the cellular membrane provided a special strategy for the observation of cellular apoptosis of single cells.
