Recent advances in high performance solution processed WOLEDs for solid-state lighting

Abstract

Solution-processed white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) have been considered as an important new and cost-effective source for solid-state lighting. Recently, much effort from both academic and industrial communities has been devoted to developing new light-emitting materials and rational device architectures, leading to remarkable progress in the overall light-emitting performances with great prospects towards practical applications. In this manuscript, we will summarize the recent progress in this research topic, from the perspective of both new light-emitting materials and advanced devices subject to low-cost solution processing technologies. Specifically, this review is focused on versatile strategies that can realize efficient white light emission from single and multiple emissive layers, and also tandem devices.
