Metal nitrido- and oxo-complexes. Part I. Complexes of ruthenium and osmium

Abstract

The preparation and physical properties of the new complexes Cs2[Ru(N)X5] and R[M(N)X4](M = Ru or Os; R = Ph4As or Bun4N; X = Cl or Br) are described. New binuclear nitrido-bridged complexes of ruthenium(IV) with carbonyl, cyanide, and chelate ligands, the polymeric nitrido-bridged species [Os(N)Br4]nn and [Os3(N)2X11(NH3)3]3–(X = Cl or Br), and oxo- and dioxo-complexes of ruthenium are also reported. The structures of the species are discussed on the basis of vibrational spectra and other properties.
