trans-Chlorotetrafluoro(trifluoromethyl)sulphur and its reactions with olefins and acetylenes

Abstract

trans-S(CF3)ClF4 has been prepared by the reaction between S(CF3)F3 and Cl2 in the presence of caesium fluoride. Its properties and addition reactions with olefins and acetylenes to give the compounds RCH2CH2Cl, RCH2CH(Cl)Me, RCF2CF2Cl, RCF(CF3)CF2Cl, RCF2CF(Cl)CF3, RCH2CF2Cl, RCF(H)CF2Cl, RCF2CFCl2, R(CF2CFCl)2 Cl, and RCH = CHCl [R =trans-S(CF3)F4] are described.
